Smile Elemental Sword.

I want to share with you all that I found an Elemental Sword! Not uber stats... req 13, 15^50, +7, max damage... didn't realize until this AM that they are fairly rare. So, for the sake of sharing, I got this sword in a chest in Crystal Overlook (Ancient Elonian Key required).

Good luck and good hunting, and if anyone has more information regarding this sword I'd be grateful. For some reason Koss keeps pestering me over it.

I'm not too sure, but I think they only drop from chests. I haven't done much chest running yet in Nightfall to be certain. As far as I know they are pretty rare. Nice find.

not uber stats, but you could sell it for a fair sum, if you wished too, what with the 15^50 and the rare skin.

Big thing I wanted to point out was the location of the find and the fact that it's a chest drop. Beauty is... I was just mapping the area for the title and happened upon this. The more I read, the more surprised I'm becoming.

Yeah, people are so concerned over "omg I want a low req." Honestly if you're running a build that is concerned with squeezing every bit of damage from your weapon possible (and thus have the need to have a PERFECT weapon) you're going to have at the VERY least 12 in that attribute, more if the attribute is in your primary class.

I still don't understand why, when I try to sell warrior weapons, I'll get someone come up, look at the weapon, and say "sorry, req is too high" when it's got a req of 11. Just stupid.

I'd be happy to get a perfect sword like that for my warrior. 13 req? Who cares?

Dude!! I SO AGREE WITH YOU!!!!
I had a really nice ancient axe, found it in the desolation area (ancient elonian chest).. Skin isn't that rare, but it looked good, perfect stats and a req of 10 When I was in town merching some stuff I saw a guy asking for a ancient axe Happy to own one and willing to sell it at a reasonable price of 15k (I know it's low, but I don't like ripping people off.. if it is not something I use myself, it is for sale cheap ^^) The guy was really happy when I PM'd him that I had a perfect one for a low price.. When I showed him, he almost instantly closed the trade window, swearing and calling me a noob.. He said it was not perfect because the req was higher then 9
Just another story to add in the library of ancient wammo stupidity..

P.S. I have a req 9 Elemental 2 was a present from a friend, she said she found it in a margonite chest Happy hunting to all who want one
AND CONGRATS TO THE OP

Congrats on the sword.

Along with what people like Velvet and Kaane are saying, I have to agree.
I sell all the weapons i find that are "perfect" by people standards which have req's of 9 or 8. but I use the ones that are 10 and higher.

I'm always amazed for how much of a bargain you can get a perfect weapon just because its requirement is low. I think the stats are alot more important than a requirement.

*My 2 cents*

Congrat on the sword.

I agree, req doesn't make or break what a weapon can do. It's the skills and how you use them that counts. Only those who are greedy or naive wants weapons with req 8 with perfect stats. Anything with req over 9 is consider a bad choice for some buyers.

Just checked wiki, and that is a very nice skin. Of course, I'd never swap one for good old Dick Justice, but that's because I'm poor.

Amen. It's amazing to me that people consider this a factor. If you meet the requirement in the build you are running, the req is completely irrelevant. The ONLY time the req matter is if you are buying the weapon as an investment (which is generally a dumb idea anyway because weapons generally go down in value over time). If you are buying it to use it, short of a req of 15, it really doesn't matter. The only time I ever look for a req 8 weapon was for my beast master build (but the GW gods liked me for some reason that day and I got one from a chest drop- req 8 15^50 longbow; to this day my favorite drop of all time). In short there are very few builds that require weapons below req 12.

I think the req system is perfect they way it is. Keep the req11+ stuff to use, sell the low req stuff for $$.

Meh I guess it is kind of a perfectionist thing. I don't HAVE to have a low req. weapon, but I would prefer them just because single digit reqs. look better to me. Hell I payed an extra 5-10 ectos for my dual gothic just so it would fit in the lower digits. Again, it is just what some people prefer.

114 chests from when I ran Desolation (ALL of Desolation) with my Ranger. Rarest thing I got was the 3-pronged Ancient Scythe.

Once I pull up funds I will go for the next 136 chests in Desolation again.
